Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the TaalMeet mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. TaalMeet ("we," "us," or "our") reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use TaalMeet. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and truthful. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate this requirement.

3. Account Registration

• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
• You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• You may not create multiple accounts or transfer your account to another person

4. Acceptable Use

TaalMeet is a platform for language learning and cultural exchange. You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose. You agree not to:

• Use the App for dating, solicitation, or purposes unrelated to language learning
• Harass, threaten, bully, or intimidate other users
• Post or share content that is offensive, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or violent
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
• Send spam, unsolicited messages, or promotional material
• Attempt to collect personal information from other users for unauthorized purposes
• Use the App to violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Interfere with the App's operation, security, or other users' experience
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or interact with the App
• Create fake profiles or provide misleading information

5. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create and share on TaalMeet, including profile information, messages, photos, and vocabulary entries. By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content within the App as necessary to provide our services.

You are solely responsible for the content you share. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or our community guidelines without prior notice.

6. Discovery, Location, and Meetups

• The discovery map shows approximate user locations to facilitate language partner matching
• You control your visibility, location precision, and availability through your privacy settings
• When meeting other users in person, you do so at your own risk and should take appropriate safety precautions
• TaalMeet is not responsible for the conduct of any user during in-person meetups
• Always meet in public places and inform someone you trust about your plans

7. Messaging

TaalMeet provides messaging features for language practice, including text, voice messages, and image sharing. You agree to use these features respectfully and only for their intended purpose. We do not actively monitor private conversations, but we may investigate reported content to enforce our community guidelines and protect user safety.

8. Events

Verified organizers may create language exchange events through the App, and any user may discover and join them. Event hosts are responsible for the accuracy of event details and for managing their events appropriately. TaalMeet is not liable for any issues arising from user-organized events, including cancellations, no-shows, or incidents during events.

9. Pricing

TaalMeet is free to use during this initial release. We may introduce paid features in a future version of the App. If we do, you'll be notified in advance and any subscription will be billed through the Apple App Store, with terms shown in the App before purchase.

10. Safety and Reporting

We are committed to creating a safe environment for language learners. If you encounter behavior that violates these Terms, including harassment, spam, hate speech, inappropriate content, impersonation, or scams, please report it through the App's reporting feature. You can also block any user from their profile or chat. We review all reports and may take action including warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent bans.

11. Intellectual Property

The TaalMeet name, logo, design, and all associated content, features, and functionality are owned by TaalMeet and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not use our branding or content without prior written permission.

12. Termination

• You may delete your account at any time through the App's settings (Account & Privacy → Deactivate Account)
• We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms
• Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately
• We will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy

13. Disclaimers

TaalMeet is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy of any user-generated content or the suitability of any language partner match.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaalMeet and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to damages resulting from interactions with other users, loss of data, or service interruptions.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TaalMeet and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of the Netherlands.
